celebrates its
3rd Anniversary Party!!!
Local
members got together once again to celebrate Stars in the Night’s 3rd
Anniversary!! It seems like only yesterday, we were sitting in a living room,
talking about forming a local fan club. And here we are, still going strong, as
we begin our 4th year!!!
It was a wonderful afternoon (which went well into the evening), filled with good food and good friends. We shared our Barry memories..........everything from our Platinum Experiences to our convention stories to our memories of following Barry on his East Coast promotional appearances.
And of course, no SITN Anniversary Party would be complete without our traditional “SITN Barry Games”.
There was “Barry Pictionary”, where we had to get the name of a Barry song across to the group through our drawing skills. We may not be Van Goghs, but you’d be amazed at how much mileage you can get from a simple stick figure.
We then moved on to “Barry Taboo”. The objective?? To get
your team to guess a Barry-related word or phrase, without using certain words
deemed as “taboo”. The pressure of someone watching over your shoulder, ready
to “buzz” you if you use one of the taboo words, as well as the sand running
very quickly through the timer, proved too much for some. We stammered and
stuttered, but somehow we were able to get the answers.
After dinner, and once our brains recovered, we moved onto “Barry Trivia”. A multiple choice quiz all about Barry. We thought....”piece of cake; we are true, Barry fans, and we’ll get through this in no time”. Needless to say, apparently our memories aren’t as good as we thought. All of a sudden, our minds went blank trying to think of song titles and lyrics and movies and musicals. It was a true test for any Barry fan.
Rounding out the evening (or was it early morning??) .................. Scrabbilow!!! First introduced last year, this is fast becoming an SITN tradition. We had great fun creating words all related to Barry, and at times, we were quite “creative”!! Please be sure to look for our completed board in our next newsletter.
