2007 Holiday Project
The Gift of the Arts

Well, 2007 proved to be yet another successful year for Stars in the Night’s charity project. Through the many raffles, auctions, and general donations that SITN received this past year, we were able to provide the girls at Germaine Lawrence with individual holiday gift bags filled with great things.

Because art and music have proven to be great ways for the girls to work through their emotions, SITN was very pleased to provide items that would encourage them to continue on this path.

On a chilly December Sunday afternoon, members of SITN gathered at Santa’s North Pole satellite location to stuff the holiday bags. With Barry encouraging us (via his 2003 A&E Christmas special), the SITN elves worked very diligently stuffing and tying and making sure the gift bags were prepared just right.

Once all the bags were stuffed and tagged, we loaded up several “sleighs” for their trip to Germaine Lawrence School the next day

Well, in true New England fashion, the Massachusetts area was hit by a snow and ice storm the night before we were scheduled to deliver the bags. But that did not deter SITN’s commitment and dedication to the girls. We chiseled the ice off our cars, shoveled our driveways, and hit the road for the long (and a bit icy) drive to Germaine Lawrence.

Upon our arrival, we were once again greeted by the very excited staff at GL. We spent some time introducing some of the newer staff members to SITN. They were quite impressed with SITN’s various fundraising activities and our commitment to their students. They also extended their appreciation to everyone at SITN for once again making the holidays much brighter for the girls.
